Activities
At 12 noon the Campello Town Crier will ring the bell and declare the village is open to visitors! Giant 8' by 10' backdrops will provide the images of iconic buildings of Campello. Villagers at each building will be happy to talk with you and tell their stories - what was it like to arrive as an immigrant in 1917? How did they make a living? What was it like to be a student at the Huntington School in 1917? Was working in a shoe factory hard? Who owned the small businesses? There will be three activity stations for children. Each will be stocked with materials to make items to take home, free, while supplies last (see below). There will be a food court with food to purchase from local restaurants. There will be live music onstage throughout the event. There will be crafters selling hand-made items that you might have seen in 1917, too. At 6pm the Town Crier will walk down Main Street, declare the village closed, and turn off his lantern. |
